An aerobic septic system typically includes:

  2. Aeration Tank – Main chamber with air pump; size varies with flow needs.

  3. Clarifier (Settling Chamber) – Removes solids; part of or separate from aeration tank.

  4. Disinfection Chamber – Usually chlorinator or UV.

  5. Pump Tank (optional) – For spray or drip dispersal; 500–1,000 gallons.

Sizing Factors

  • Local regulations (required minimum sizes per bedroom)

  • Soil conditions (clay vs. sand)

  • Discharge method (spray, drip, subsurface)

  • Daily flow rate (based on actual water usage)
